Our team recently had the opportunity to visit two innovative paving projects completed by the City of Mesa alongside Tim Murphy. These projects highlight Mesa’s dedication to utilizing advanced materials and techniques in road construction and maintenance.

Project 1: K06C Residential/Collector Overlay

• 📌 Location: SEC of Alta Mesa and Brown Rd.
• 🚧 Project Type: Local Agency (City) Resurfacing
• 📝 Notable Features:
  • Utilized in-house BMD concept with mix taken to 100 gyrations
  • Optimized binder content to 6.2% with in-place air voids between 3%-8% for the collector and +1% for the residential
• 🤝 Contractor: Nesbitt Contracting

Project 2: L06C Residential/Collector Overlay

• 📌 Location: SWC of Brown Rd. and Power Rd.
• 🚧 Project Type: Local Agency (City) Resurfacing
• 📝 Notable Features:
  • Paved with ½” Dense Graded PG76-22 PMTR in accordance with the New EVAC Criteria for 2022
  • 15% RAP used on the collector roads
• 🤝 Contractor: M.R. Tanner Construction
